Save between (1-5)% of your spending with GTBank Spend2Save account

The GTBank Spend 2 Save account is a new service from Guaranty Trust Bank which allows you save money as you spend.

How does the does the Spend 2 Save account work?

When setting up your Spend 2 Save account, you will have the option of choosing an existing bank account of yours (you may select more than one account) and a percentage of your expenses to save (1-5 %). Now, for every expense on your account i.e whenever you withdraw, the percentage (which you’d set) will get deducted from your account balance and lodged into your Spend2Save account.

I’m quite confused, could you explain a little more?

Lets say you selected your Savings account when setting up your Spend2Save account and set the percentage to 2%. Assuming you have ₦10,000 in your Savings account and make a withdrawal of ₦4,000, that would leave your Savings account balance at ₦6,000 right? Your expense was ₦4,000 so 2% of ₦4,000 will be ₦80. ₦80 will then be deducted from your ₦6,000 balance leaving ₦5920 in your Savings account and ₦80 in your Spend2Save account.

What happens when I withdraw all the money in my account, leaving ₦0.00?

Nothing will be added to your Spend2Save account. The system will automatically deduct once you have sufficient balance.
Does the Spend2Save account have a maturity period or date?
No. You can withdraw your funds into any of your accounts any time, any day.
Are there any charges associated with this Spend2Save account?
No. You will neither be charged for Saving nor for withdrawing.
